On How To Study & Learn Effectively For School Students &
Adult Learners. Test & Proven Good & Practical Methodologies
For Studying, Learning, And
Mastering Different Subjects & For Passing Exams / Tests With Flying Colours.
In the 21st century we are living in, the world has become a very competitive
place. Doing business and trade is very competitive. Finding a good and suitable
job is very competitive. Finding a right life partner is competitive.
And of course, finding the right school, studying and
getting the best results in exams, is extremely competitive.
Being a "hard-working" or "diligent" student is no longer enough.
Studying hard and studying smart
must come hand-in-hand in order to produce the best learning results.
STUDYING HARD (Diligence)
Studying hard means knowing how to study
properly.
Studying hard and diligently
takes some basic efforts and additional efforts:
- Revisions (Revising) :
"Refreshing Your Mind & Helping It Remember
What You Have Learnt". Read and go through what you have learnt, as
often and as many times as necessary to help your mind remember.
- Practising (Practicing) :
"Practice Make Perfect". Yes, constant practising can help a person
be good in something.
- Contemplating (Thinking & Pondering) :
"Reflecting Upon What You Have Learnt, So As To Better Understand It".
Take the time to slow down, and quieten yourself so as to be able to think
and reflect upon what you have learnt. Through sufficient and relevant
meditation, one can gain exceptional understanding, wisdom and mastery over
knowledge.
- Research (Detailed Study & Analysis) :
"Scrutinising & Analysing In Details, What You Have Learnt".
Do not leave any stone unturned. Look at the subject from different angles
and perspectives. Study the research works of academics and experts of the
past and present. Learn from the
wisdoms of great minds
of the world.
- Questioning (Finding Answers) :
"Clear All Doubts In Your Mind". Find explanations to whatever doubts
you have. Search for the answers to whatever questions in your mind and heart.
- True Understanding :
"Write Down What You Know". Writing down what you know will make your
ideas / mind clear and definite.
- Additional Helps (Extra Classes, Tuition Classes, Mentors, Reference Materials) :
"If The Teaching & Knowledge / Skill Transmitting You Currently Have Is Not
Sufficient, Seek For Additional Helps". Attend extra classes or tuition classes
in order to gain better understanding. Enlist the help of friends or fellow
schoolmates / coursemates / learners. Look for mentors who can teach and guide you.
Search for good reference books and materials.
If you want to successfully
study, learn and master a knowledge or skill,
you have to work hard, and also to go the extra mile necessary to find the
right resources to
help you study and learn better. Sow, and you shall reap. The
more you sow, the more you will be able to reap in the future.
STUDYING SMART
Studying smart means knowing what to study.
Identifying what is crucial in what you are learning, is very important.
Focus your maximum efforts on the important things you are trying to master,
instead of wasting precious efforts and time on the useless stuff.
Pay maximum attention when you are in your class or lecture.
Being distracted can greatly affect and stunt the process of knowledge and skill
transmission. Do not let yourself be distracted. Switch off that mobile phone of
yours. Give maximum attention during the lesson and gain maximum understanding,
so that you need not waste so much precious time later on.
Be humble. Admit that you are still learning and there are many things you are
still ignorant of. Only when you are humble, will you gain knowledge.
A wise zen master once said that an arrogant person is like a cup already full ...
no more water can be poured into it. Empty your cup. Humble yourself to seek
knowledge, and you shall gain the skill / wisdom you need.
Respect your professor / teacher / tutor / lecturer. A teacher imparts
his knowledge, skill or what he / she knows to you. Show your reverence
to your teacher, and you will gain maximum knowledge from him / her.
From the beginning of time until today, it has always been this way.
Many do not understand this. That's why so many have failed to gain knowledge
or be effectively educated.
All common sense isn't it? So easy, yet so difficult to do. Why? Because
common sense is so uncommon nowadays!!! :)
Btw, educational level does not equate the amount of knowledge a person has.
A highly educated person can still be very unknowledgeable and ignorant ... just
look at the many college graduates around you. Only by having the right
attitude and mindset and knowing how to gain actual knowledge,
can a person become knowledgeable and successful in life.
